Family Paint Night

Recently, my girlfriends and I did a Paint & Sip night out. The boys were amazed with the flamingo I painted and said they wanted to go with me next time. Instead of taking them to the wine bar, I put together this Family Paint Night…

The Experience

Right away, we were shocked the video was 2 hours in length, especially since we knew that we’d be pausing the video. I should have previewed it ahead of time. Thankfully, the link is good for two years. The boys can go back to it as many times as they’d like.

The boys were super enthusiastic about the idea. I hadn’t told them about it ahead of time. We just set it up and let them piece it together. Jacob struggled with not being too aggressive with the canvas and easel, which I think added to his frustration. Jonah lost it when we outlined the jar. Both boys ended up giving up and playing with their friends online instead.

I’m hopeful they will return to their canvases at their own pace sometime this upcoming week. If they do, I’ll post an update.

Lessons Learned for Next Time

  • Choose a simpler design.

  • Preview the video to make sure the amount of time works for your current plans.

  • Don’t let them see our canvases until the end. We are working on not comparing.
